A region where industry and research can meet

A 2023 draft literature review commissioned within a University of Newcastle hempcrete research project framed the next stage around quantitative data, analysis and discussion rather than marketing claims. That distinction matters. Innovative materials become credible when the industry can move from enthusiasm to repeatable evidence: defined mixes, known installation methods, measured thermal and moisture behaviour, structural boundaries, documented compliance pathways and honest statements about what is still unknown.

From standard products to expanded applications

Suppliers quite properly sell products within documented systems and tested uses. The innovation opportunity is to ask what further applications could become viable if material behaviour, interfaces, compliance and construction methods are properly investigated rather than assumed.

Local project experience

My NSW work has involved development feasibility, procurement, sustainable material trials and hands-on project problem solving. I value the combination of site knowledge and formal research because each exposes blind spots in the other.
