International Advisory

International Business Advisory for Australian Founders

Going international should solve a commercial problem, not become an expensive distraction. I start with customers, operating risk, people, payments, delivery and governance before discussing any structure.

Start with the commercial reason

Internationalisation can widen a customer base, improve access to talent or suppliers and reduce dependence on one market. It can also add tax, legal, banking, employment and management complexity. The first decision is whether the operating benefit is real enough to justify that complexity.

Design a reversible first move

I prefer pilots that preserve optionality: a distributor, a contract team, a limited market test or a defined customer segment before a large permanent commitment. Reversible moves generate evidence cheaply.

Keep regulated advice with the right professionals

International legal, tax, migration and regulated financial matters need appropriately qualified advisers. My role is to organise the commercial picture, questions, sequence and decision criteria so the specialist advice is applied to a clear operating plan.
